Port Angeles

Port Angeles calls itself the Authentic Northwest. It is the gateway city to the million-acre Olympic National Park famous for snow-capped views, whisper-quiet rainforests, crystal-clear lakes and rivers, and abundant opportunities for camping, walking, whitewater rafting, and of course, riding. Port Angeles, known by the locals as “PA”, is the last major town before arriving in Forks, the nexus of the Twilight adventure. For those interested in the Twilight book and movie series, PA has several locations downtown.

Away from the mountains, forests, and lakes PA is bordered by the Strait of Juan de Fuca, which is a saltwater inlet of the Pacific Ocean. Port Angeles has miles of waterfront to explore on foot or by boat. Port Angeles is also the ferry access point for quaint “Old English” Victoria, British Columbia, in Canada.

Port Angeles offers a wide variety of indoor and outdoor recreational activities. Outdoors there are kayaking tours, mountain bike excursions, historic tours, and white water rafting tours. Olympic National Park has over 600 miles of hiking trails while Olympic National Forest has 663,000 acres to explore. There are many rivers, lakes, and salt water shorelines available for fishing. From spring to fall there are a number of festivals including the Crabfest, Juan de Fuca Festival, and Arts in Action.
