11-2-23 •• US 101 Closure for Bicyclists & Walkers starting Nov 13th
Hello from WSDOT:
We want to inform you about an upcoming change for bicyclists and pedestrians using US 101 between Blyn and Sequim.
Starting Monday, Nov. 13, pedestrians, and cyclists on US 101 going from Blyn to Sequim (westbound) will detour via Olympic Discovery Trail and the Dawley Road. The detour is between Schoolhouse Point Lane and Whitefeather Way. The detour will continue until late summer 2024.
Bicyclists and pedestrians going the opposite direction from Sequim to Blyn will still be able to access US 101.
The temporary changes allow crews to build a new bridge on US 101 at Discovery Creek.
New bridge construction on US 101
Weather permitting, crews will temporarily relocate the highway onto a two-lane bypass road. From 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 13 to 6 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, travelers will see:
- One-way alternating traffic approaching the work zone between West Sequim Bay Road and Barker Road.
- Intermittent traffic stops for up to ten minutes.
The work is weather-dependent. The work will be rescheduled to the next available dry evening.
The speed limit will also be reduced from 50 mph to 30 mph on US 101 between mileposts 268.04 and 269.04. The temporary speed limit reduction will occur after traffic is shifted onto the temporary bridge.
Additional information is available at the project webpage.
Thank you in advance for helping get the word out to people on bicylces and on foot.
Best Regards,
